Think outside the box (the electoral one) on Kashmir..

It has been proved time and again that the will of the people cannot be denied. Why are we spending so much money just trying to hold on to this patch of land? Whose benefit is it for? Certainly not the Kashmiri's?

From a strategic perspective, the best thing for India would be to have an independent and autonomous Kashmir which would include all the areas occupied by Pakistan, India and China. This will create a land link between India and the greater Asian continent via Afghanistan. A gas pipeline from Iran and Russia via Afghanistan makes a lot more sense than one through Pakistan!

An independent, democratic and neutral Kashmir will naturally be tightly tied in to India's economy, culture and politics! What better way to protect the country than to have an independent and friendly country up North! Time to think outside election politics and make some bold decisions...Alas, where do we find such visionary leaders...Italy perhaps...
